No Property Tax Increase Pledge
My Pledge to Gwinnett County Taxpayers—
I will oppose any increase in property taxes for Gwinnett County government during this term (2011 and 2012).
Times are tough for families and businesses, and County government should not make it even more difficult. If elected, I will fight against the County taking any more of your hard-earned money for property taxes.
I make this promise knowing that it will not be easy to balance the budget. County tax revenues will continue to drop, so the County’s spending must be cut.
I will take the same approach to the County’s budget that we all have used in our homes and businesses. We will have to dig through the budget in detail and determine what is most important. If a purchase or project is not absolutely essential right now, then it should be cut from the current budget. We all have to learn to make do with what we have!
We must also take a hard look at the services provided by County government. Basic services like public safety, water and roads should be funded first. Even in these areas we have to look for ways to best use limited resources and control costs.
I am ready to tackle the County’s budget and ensure it is balanced without a property tax increase. I know the budget process inside and out, I understand County operations and I know the right questions to ask.
However, I need your support and help to go to work on the County budget and prevent County property tax increases.
Say No to property tax increases! Vote Charlotte Nash for Gwinnett Commission Chairman on March 15.
