Charlotte Nash – A lifetime commitment to Gwinnett County
Charlotte Nash is a proud native of Gwinnett County. She has lived her entire life in the Dacula/Harbins community, graduating from Dacula High School before earning an accounting degree from the University of Georgia.
Charlotte’s full-time commitment to Gwinnett included a 27-year career in various capacities with the county government. She closed out her service following nine years as County Administrator, opting to launch a successful consulting service focused on increasing the efficiency and performance of public and private entities.
In March 2011, Gwinnett residents showed their trust in Charlotte’s leadership and her personal commitment by electing her Chairman of the Board of Commissioners. She has worked ever since to address the needs of county residents, putting their interests first in all decisions coming before the Board.
Charlotte and her husband, Michael, have been married for 39 years and have two grown children and two granddaughters.
Charlotte’s active participation in civic, business and service organizations includes the following:

Over 33 years experience in state/local government and public sector issues:
- Consulting firm, President (Six years).
- Governmental and public affairs consulting practice focused primarily on public sector clients; specialties include budgeting, capital improvements planning, financial management, operations improvement and strategic planning. Examples of projects: assisted with start-up of new City of Johns Creek, financial operations review for City of Macon and financial management assistance for Forsyth County, Georgia.
- Gwinnett County, County Administrator (Over nine years).
- Chief administrative officer for County with responsibilities and authority typically granted to County Manager. Accomplishments include: attaining highest possible bond rating (AAA/Aaa) from the three major rating services, reduction in ratio of County employees to population through increased use of outsourcing and negotiation of first City/County service delivery strategy agreement to be approved within Georgia.
- Gwinnett County, Director of Finance (Ten years).
- Chief financial officer with responsibility for full range of financial functions. Examples of accomplishments: implemented Capital Budgeting process, established use of forecasting model to project revenues and expenditures for five years into future and created formal risk management program to reduce liability and insurance costs.
- Gwinnett County, Budget Director (Four years) and Grants Manager (Four years).
- Georgia Department of Human Resources, Accountant (One year).
- Other part-time and temporary work during high school and college.
- 1971 graduate of Dacula High School. Valedictorian, National Merit Scholar, Gwinnett County Star Student and Governor’s Honors Program.
- 1975 graduate of University of Georgia, BBA with major in Accounting. Magna cum laude.
- Native of Gwinnett County and lifelong resident of Dacula/Harbins community.
- Married to husband, Michael Nash, for over 38 years.
- Two adult children and two granddaughters.
- Church membership over life - Ebenezer Baptist Church and Hebron Baptist Church.
- Inaugural Excellence in Public Service Award/County Appointed Official presented by Institute of Government and Georgia Trend Magazine in 2003.
- Instructor and panel participant – Association of County Commissioners of Georgia Programs (Financial management; capital improvements planning and financing; taxation issues and county government structure and management).
- Instructor – Newly elected commissioners training provided by Institute of Government, University of Georgia.
- Recognized as expert in local government management and finance.
- Public Service Award – Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.
- Member, Georgia Regional Transportation Authority.
- Member, Gwinnett Recreation Authority (resigned December 2010).
