Balanced Budgets

Under Charlotte Nash’s leadership, the county has balanced the 2011 and 2012 budgets WITHOUT increasing property taxes, drastically cutting services or depleting reserve funds. In fact, Gwinnett’s millage rate for 2011 reflected a small reduction while the County still maintained the prized triple-AAA credit rating, reflecting the county’s strong financial standing.

Tougher Ethics Standards

Charlotte’s commitment to restoring trust included establishing stronger rules governing how the county conducts its business. Gwinnett’s new land acquisition policy and its tough revised ethics ordinance better define responsibilities and require greater accountability throughout County government.

Increased Transparency

Gwinnett County residents now have unprecedented open access to information about the decisions facing their Board of Commissioners. Charlotte has initiated the online placement of full agenda packages and other background details prior to Commission work sessions and business meetings. Budget hearings are filmed and made available on the County website, along with detailed budget information.

Job Creation

Now more than ever, Gwinnett residents need quality employment opportunities closer to home. To that end, Charlotte has focused on the need to make Gwinnett a desirable place to do business. She has led the way in holding the line on business taxes and bringing stability back to County government. In addition, Charlotte is actively involved in economic development efforts that are expected to result in future business investment and additional jobs.

Neighborhood Preservation

Charlotte has initiated the innovative Operation Good Neighbor effort to help protect property values and promote the county’s residential communities. Operation Good Neighbor seeks to join public and private volunteers to restore blighted or neglected areas, efforts the county cannot undertake alone.
